About
A Franco-German singer, artistic director and producer, Iris Munos has led the project “Et si Brel était une femme ?” since 2016: a new take on the themes Jacques Brel sang about, reinvented at each stop through contact with local music. After Poland, Africa and Myanmar, where some ten songs were arranged with Burmese musicians in 2024, the project comes to Laos. A concert to (re)discover “Vesoul”, “Jojo” and other Brel songs, bringing the French language to life through music. In Vientiane she is joined by Lao musicians: guitarist Vangthanousone Bouaphanh, founder of the Lao Jazzanova Band, studio musician, arranger and teacher for more than 13 years, who has played the Hua Hin and Giant Steps (Ulaanbaatar) jazz festivals and TPAM in Yokohama; drummer Anonh Phothisan, trained at the National School of Arts, drummer of the Lao Jazzanova Band and a teacher in his own studio; and Hongta Keomanysouk, a musician with the Lao National Art Troupe who plays the khaen and the gong circle and has represented Lao music in many cultural exchanges across Asia and Europe.
