What if we became children again for an afternoon? An afternoon of games and challenges in French on the theme of childhood, in the company of Amélie Poulain. In Amélie (Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain, 2001), Jean-Pierre Jeunet tells the story of a young woman who has kept a child’s eye on the world: she plunges her hand into sacks of grain, skims stones on the Canal Saint-Martin and collects small pleasures. One day she finds a treasure box hidden by a little boy decades earlier, and decides to return it to him. Now it is our turn to open the box of memories: film clips, “I like, I don’t like”, playground games, nursery rhymes and tongue twisters, quizzes, Pictionary and team challenges. All chances to talk about your childhood, compare games from here and elsewhere, and practise French in a friendly atmosphere. In teams or solo, everyone can join in: no need to have seen the film or to speak perfect French, just bring your inner child. Voilà, the monthly meet-up for French speakers. Launched in March 2026 at the Institut français in Luang Prabang during the Month of the Francophonie, Voilà brings together high school students, university students, young professionals, French speakers and lovers of the French language every month to practise French in a different way: games, team challenges, meetings and conversations over a drink. Why “Voilà”? Because it is a very French word, simple and almost impossible to translate: it means “look”, “here it is”, “it’s ready”, “it’s done” and “it’s possible” all at once. That is the spirit of the meet-up: a space to speak, share, try, and dare to make mistakes, because every sentence is progress. Open to all and free.
Book your place: the Institut français in Luang Prabang will confirm your registration by email.
