An archaeological journey through Laos The antiquity, diversity and richness of Laos’s historical heritage. Since the first surveys conducted in Vientiane and Champassak in 1900, the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO, French School of Asian Studies) has maintained a keen interest in Laos’s rich and highly diverse heritage. The findings of this research, published in specialized books and journals, often remain little known to the general public. In his lecture, Michel Lorrillard offers an archaeological “journey” through all the provinces of the country, highlighting their distinctive ancient cultural characteristics and presenting the current state of historical knowledge.
